While the older kids went back to school today, we took the younger kids back in time! To the Soap Creek Historic Schoolhouse. This schoolhouse is located about 8 miles north of Corvallis, before you get to Adair. We set up our little mock-1900's classroom and talked a little about the history of the school, played games like Tug-o-War with grass, Where's the thimble?, and Doggie, Doggie, where's your bone? Kid's also made a little craft apple necklace and made butter by shaking whipping cream. The schoolhouse was so adorable. It even still had a belfry where you could pull the rope to ring the bell to hurry in the kids to school. My daughter has asked many times when we're going to "preschool" again- she was so excited about her "first day of school." We had about 5 moms and 10 kids who were able to make it to the activity. Here's a few fun pictures!
